Home Run Derby

NYB World Series Home Run Derby

Players in this contest should participate in the age group that their team normally participates in.

General Rules

  • The cost is $5 per player.  Players can register 15 minutes before their ager group begins at Field 8.  Once a player hits, his score will be recorded and he is free to leave.
  • Players have to be on the roster of a team participating in NYB  World Series to participate.
  • Players need to provide their own pitcher.  The pitcher must pitch behind the L Screen.  This can be a parent, relative coach, etc.
  • Each player will have 15 baseballs to hit as many balls over the fence as possible.  Baseballs will be provided.
  • As long as the ball stays on field 8 and goes over the outfield fence, even if foul, it will count as a home run.
  • Only home runs will be counted.  There are no other points awarded. The Home Run official’s judgement is final.
  • In the case of a tie for 1st place in an age group, the tied participants will be brought back later for a final round.
  • Players should bring their gloves and be prepared to shag balls for their age group, while waiting to hit.  Players should be attentive of the batter and balls flying their way.  Players should not try to rob hitters of home runs at the fence.
  • Registration is set to 60 players per age group for time consideration.
  • Trophies will be awarded to the Champion and Runner- Up in each group.
